Why subscribe to Ram Dass: From the Archive?
For more than fifty years, Ram Dass taught everywhere he could — in books, in lectures, on cassette tapes that passed hand to hand, on the radio, in podcasts, and in person at his beloved gatherings and retreats. When he left his body in December 2019, the Love Serve Remember Foundation (RamDass.org) became the caretaker of all of it: hundreds of recorded talks, thousands of photographs, articles dating back to the 1970s, satsang transcripts, journal pages and so many wisdom teachings.
This Substack opens up that collection. To start, we will feature one curated post a week, from his team at the foundation. Some teachings you may have heard or read before; others may be new to you. There’s always value in revisiting this wisdom time and time again.
The kinds of posts we’ll share
To start, each week we will post one curated piece. Over time, expect a mix of:
Potent audio, video clips, articles and transcripts from the Ram Dass archive, framed for the particular moment
Stories from his life, or from the lives of those around him
Featured episodes from a Be Here Now Network podcast — Krishna Das, Sharon Salzberg, Roshi Joan Halifax, Trudy Goodman, Mirabai Bush, and the others he loved
Our favorite excerpts from his books — Be Here Now (we love the brown pages especially), Polishing the Mirror, Walking Each Other Home, Still Here, Paths to God, and more.
This is the official one
There are a lot of accounts using Ram Dass’s name to sell things. This isn’t one of them. Ram Dass: From the Archive is published by the Love Serve Remember Foundation (RamDass.org) — the nonprofit caretaker of his teachings since 2010 — and curated by longtime LSRF team members and curators Rachael, Noah, and Aidan. Every post is sourced; every post links back to the original material.
We’re just opening up the archive, to keep alive the teaching Ram Dass carried home from his guru, Neem Karoli Baba: loving awareness and presence, without dogma, in service to anyone who needs it.
